Welcome to the website of the King Edward’s Consortium.
The headteachers of our 20 schools are very proud of our outstanding track record in recruiting and training high-flyers for a successful career in teaching. A typical KEC trainee will be knowledgeable and passionate about their subject and have a clear commitment to a career in teaching. Our trainees make a positive difference to the pupils they work with from the very start of the programme and our graduates are highly sought-after for employment once they qualify. We hope you will explore our website, visit our schools and consider training with us.
The Consortium is a well-established group of 20 excellent - and very varied - schools in the Birmingham area. The mixture of comprehensive, selective, mixed, single-sex, 11-16 and 11-18 schools in the partnership is a key strength. All KEC trainees have placements in two contrasting schools and our central training programme includes speakers from and visits to many more.
We are rated number one of all Initial Teacher Training providers in the country for School Direct fee and salaried routes in The Good Teacher Training Guide 2015. This is because our trainees are exceptionally well-qualified and because we have a 100% employment rate. In addition, new teachers who have trained with us rate their training very positively in the annual National College for Teaching & Leadership survey. We were graded outstanding by Ofsted in our November 2012 inspection.
We always aim to recruit trainees who have the potential to become outstanding teachers – and future leaders – in one of our Consortium schools.
The King Edward’s Consortium offers SCITT (fee-paying) and School Direct (salaried) places in a range of subjects. We also offer a small number of School Direct (salaried) places in independent schools in the Consortium. These places are open to applicants who have already secured employment at one of these schools.
All KEC schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and we expect all trainee teachers to share this commitment. Successful applicants will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
Please register your interest in training with us by clicking here. Alternatively, you are most welcome to contact us by telephone or email.
I look forward to hearing from you.
