NQT Support and Development Conference

This conference is free of charge for KEC NQTs and for NQTs in our partner schools who trained with other institutions. Eligible delegates should register here.

Tuesday 16th October 2018, 9.15am - 3pm (lunch provided)

Programme:

"What's this doing in my lesson?"  Planning for effective learning

Curricula are expanding but contact time is as shorter than ever. This session presents a research-informed framework for planning and evaluating lessons that supports developing teachers in making effective decisions about how best to use time in the classroom.

Getting Things Done as a teacher

The transition from trainee to NQT, with more to do and less support from others, can be very challenging. This session explores some of the factors that lead to teacher stress and presents a set of strategies for ensuring that workflow is managed, tasks are prioritised effectively and decisions can be made that support both work and well-being.

Smarter marking

Teachers recognise the importance of feedback to learning but marking consistently emerges from research as a significant challenge to teacher well-being.  This session acquaints NQTs with some of the key messages from research about what is and is not worthwhile and presents a range of evidence-based strategies that can be adapted to a wide range of subjects.

I wouldn't be doing this fantastic job without KEC.
