School Direct (salaried) QTS 'self-funded'

We offer a small number of 'self-funded' places to applicants working at Edgbaston High School for Girls, King Edward VI High School for Girls, King Edward's School  and Solihull School who wish to qualify to teach while they work and where the school pays both the salary and the training fee.

The school employs the graduate as an unqualified teacher, pays the salary and the training fees. The KEC carries out the training, giving full support to both the school and the trainee. The training is fully comparable to that given to Department for Education (DfE)-funded trainees. Trainees train in the 11-16 phase and, in addition, we guarantee A' Level experience in either the employing or second placement school. Many trainees continue to be employed by the school following the achievement of QTS.

Applicants for self-funded places should secure the agreement of their headteacher and then contact the KEC office for a KEC application form.  Applications for these places are not processed via the DfE's Apply system.

KEC trainees are highly professional, reflective and dedicated. They embody the partnership’s vision of excellence.
